he was very aggressive, especially preflop, however, his post flop play was pretty bad. at this point he'd just won the previous 10 or 11 pots, a few of which were decent sized pots. based on the flow of the match at that time, i feel there was a pretty good chance that he felt i would just fold to his 3bet, because i'd been letting him run me over. after he just called my 4bet, i was pretty sure that he didn't have a big hand like TT or better. the hand pretty much plays itself out from there, i think. i feel that if i'm going to make plays like this w/ 78o in a 4bet pot, i've got to play it very aggressively when i hit the flop like i did.
so that puts me to about +10 buyins for the month, not a bad start. blog posts usually are a harbinger of a nice long downswing, hopefully that doesn't stay true after this post.

taking back my blog
long time no post. mainly because poker hasn't been fun and i don't like thinking about it. i don't want to blame it all on running bad, because that's definitely not the case. i'm playing pretty bad as well. i think i get bored and bluff too much, and make a lot of dumb calls that, in retrospect, are very easy folds. i just need to start taking my time and give each move more time and thought. below is my graph for the month of feb.
not a lot of hands, but a lot of money lost.
and for shits and giggles, lets throw in a graph from 1/25/2007-mid feb!
my favorite hand from the downswing:
CO ($200)
Button ($403.85)
SB ($372.90)
BB ($310.45)
UTG ($228)
Hero ($371.65)
Preflop: Hero is MP with 5, 5.
UTG raises to $7, Hero calls $7, 1 fold, Button calls $7, 1 fold, BB raises to $18, UTG calls $11, Hero calls $11, Button calls $11.
Flop: ($73) 4, 5, 7 (4 players)
BB bets $292.45 (All-In), UTG calls $210 (All-In), Hero raises to $353.65, Button folds.
Turn: ($929.10) 3 (3 players, 2 all-in)
River: ($929.10) J (3 players, 2 all-in)
Final Pot: $929.10
Results:
BB has 6s Jh (straight, seven high).
UTG has Jc Kc (one pair, jacks).
Hero has 5d 5s (three of a kind, fives).
Outcome: BB wins $867.90. Hero wins $61.19.
BB in that hand was so fucking terrible, i went on crazy tilt after this hand. eventually shoving JQo into this monkey and losing to AKo. i was pretty upset w/ myself after that. i normally don't tilt, but the fact that a guy that played 84/56 and cleaned up the table really sent me over the edge. live and learn.
i started playing live for the last half of the month because online is obviously rigged. live poker was always pretty easy, but apparently it's now rigged, too. results for live play below:
i might as well get a job at mcdonalds. blah.
soo.. februrary sucked and was my first losing month ever. i wonder if there is some coincidence that feb was my worst month ever and feb being black history month... (just kidding, colbert) jokes like that are probably why i run bad, karma is a bitch.

Full Tilt On Tilt
My results for the week:
Tuesday: -46.60
Wednesday: +7.00
Thursday: +14.50
Friday: +31.50
Saturday: +72.65
Sunday: DNP
Monday: +4.75
I played a lot more $5 heads up this week (about twice as many as last week) and did improve my winning percentage. Last week I won 60.42% and this week I won 62.65%. It may seem small, but I was very pleased with a 2% increase in my win percentage. It shows that I am improving the more I play. I ended the day Saturday with a 10 game win streak, 5 of them coming against the same player. The guy finally quit playing me when I cracked his aces with J9 of spades. I flopped a straight and there was no way he would have laid it down. I wish I would have copied his comments after the final game. The man was not happy to say the least.
Anyway, my biggest lesson of the week came on Tuesday. I had a shitty day and sat down to play poker in a overly aggressive mood. I veered away from my game plan of only playing heads up and decided to play .25/.50 cash games. I was getting dominated and just kept reloading. To make it worse, I tried to multi-table which just made it twice as worse. Lesson learned. Never sit down to play when you are on tilt to start. I'm an idot.
Ending on a good note, I didn't play online on Sunday since I played in a cash game at a friends house. It was $10 buy-ins as usual and we ended up playing until 4 am. I made a new career high raking in about $200 in profit. Almost all of it off of one player. He doubled me up twice, once with AK vs A7 and another time with AA vs K8. Both times my hand held up and those two hands alone accounted for 90% of my stack.
Total profit so far from online poker: $172.30...on pace to reach my goal of $1k

Mr. Consistent
Here are my results over my first full week of play:
Tuesday: +1.30
Wednesday: +19.75
Thursday: +4.30
Friday: DNP
Saturday: +42.65
Sunday: +18.50
Monday: +2.00
As you can see, not huge numbers but the key is that they are all in the black. This is the first time I've won consistently since I first started playing poker 4 years ago. For the week I am up $88.50 with a win percentage of about 60% playing $5 heads up. I am not playing a ton right now, so I am a little behind schedule of my goal. The good news is that my win percetage continues to increase the more I play.
My favorite part of this new game of doing this is listening to people complain about how "lucky" I am. It cracks me up when they just let me bet, bet, and bet some more. About every game I have played has gone the same way....I bully them around until I have about 2/3 the chips on the table. Then they get frustrated and practically give me their money by moving all-in with weak hands. Happens EVERY time. It's amazing how much Super System has helped me. Everything in the book is so dead on accurate. Anyway, until next week....
